Join Hampton Roads Pride on...
The second annual Pride Cruise aboard the Carrie B is scheduled for Saturday July 18th, 2009 at 7:30pm behind Waterside in downtown Norfolk. This years cruise is aboard the new and larger boat with the capacity to take 300 people on a 3 hour moonlight cruise through the Hampton Roads harbor. A cash bar, heavy hor dourves , and musical entertainment are provided. Tickets are $25 in advance. $30 at the dock one hour prior to cruise.
This event is an annual fundraiser just prior to Thanksgiving. This year will be the 5th year and the proceeds go to clients of Tact. This event has provided over 1000 turkeys since its inception. A collection of canned goods donated by patrons helps stock the much needed food pantry at TACTs Norfolk office. The Garage, a local bar, has hosted the show and fundraiser since it was first promoted.
This year will be the 6th annual Toy Drive to benefit children of clients of TACT and Chesapeake Child Protective Services. Last year over $600 worth of toys were purchased with funds raised at a one evening event hosted by The Garage as it has every year since it began. Many additional toys were donated by bar patrons and most notably, the Pool League.
Our Organization produces various fundraisers throughout the year in local clubs raising funds and awareness of the Scholarship Program. The funds raised are specifically earmarked for scholarships and awarded every year just prior to or at our Out in the Park Celebration. Funds for the Robert Lewis Memorial Scholarship are provided by individual donations and an annual donation from TACT in honor of a founding member of TACT. The Tony Pritchard Scholarship is dedicated to the applicant that shows exemplary potential to giving back to the community through furthering their education.
Held annually at the Garage in August prior to the beginning of the school year, this event provides school supplies and backpacks to children of clients of TACT and Chesapeake Child Protective Services. This event raised over 50 backpacks last year in addition to over $400 for various much needed school supplies that filled the backpacks.
Hampton Roads Pride proudly co sponsors one of the pier parties produced by the new non profit, Community Cares Project, this year at Ocean View Pier in Norfolk, Va. This year the event will be the day before Out In The Park, Saturday, June 27th, 2009 beginning at 4pm, donations and and proceeds from an auction will be for the Scholarship Fund. This event is a wonderful time to relax in an incredible atmosphere and a great way to get charged up for the Big Event the following day.
